Transformation Video and Learner Response

Mood Board:

 Video:

Teachers Feedback:
  • Framing is a definite EBI - there is a lot of dead space in the shot. It's good to see the make up whilst at work but could still get a lot closer.
  • Comparing with daisy's, I prefer the colour - you can see the effect of the makeover more clearly and see the changes developing.
  • Major issue: no final result to the makeover. This is an important lesson for media production - you've let the bloopers actually prevent you from meeting the brief.
  • No real reference to Hollywood/ 1950s glamour etc and no end result either.

Student feedback:

WWW:
  • Good use of captions
  • Love the Bloopers
  • Music fitted the video
  • Paced well
EBI:
  • Showed the final look
  • Slow the pace down a bit
  • Meet the time requirement
  • You were on camera

Self evaluation:

I misunderstood the brief and thought it meant that the video had to be 2 minutes long instead of the time-lapse had to be 2 minutes long hence why the transformation was sped up to such an extent. I could have cut parts of the transformation or just slowed down the speedup. The camera shot was far too wide which was because we tried to fit in the person actually doing the make up also but we should have moved the camera forward so the models face was more in shot.

Mood board self evaluation:

From the mood board, you can see that we have used 2 main topics, holly wood stars and pin up girls fashion. The bright colours were a definite and the very stylish hairstyles were also a must for the look. We took these two points and built on it and ended up with the look in the end.

Improvements in the future:
Firstly, the camera shot would be closer to see the models face clearer. As for the editing, the choice of music would be different to fit the genre of the look ad the time-lapse would be slower, bits of the video will be cut out to meet the time limit given. I would also add shots of the final look at the end of the video before the bloopers.

What I have learnt:
I have learnt that there is more to just how someone looks to create a feeling. The pace of a video, the music the pace of the music, the whole process is equally as difficult and important. In other words, to create a good piece of work, I need to take everything into account whether its sound, camera angle to makeup ad costumes.
